Trinamool Congress leader Saket Gokhale on Friday accused the BJP of filing a “fake fabricated case” to defame Opposition leaders, after a Delhi court discharged former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 21 others in the alleged liquor policy corruption case.

‎In a post on X, Gokhale claimed that the case had been filed “to defame Opposition leaders who were arrested & mistreated in order to break their will & tarnish their reputation.”

“Yet again, BJP’s shameless tactic of using CBI & ED as their political tools stands exposed,” he wrote, referring to the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, which had probed the case. “The Modi-Shah Govt will soon fall apart just like these fake cases.”
“Congratulating Kejriwal and Sisodia, Gokhale said, “Your TRUTH stands vindicated & we salute the courage you showed throughout this entire ordeal.”
‎The remarks came shortly after a Delhi court on Friday discharged Kejriwal, Sisodia and 21 others in the corruption case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy. The court reportedly pulled up the CBI for implicating the accused without sufficient material evidence, observing that the voluminous chargesheet contained significant lacunae and was not supported by witness testimony or statements.
